OpenMentions is a project to further the discovery of topics via Webmention. To do this OpenMentions will create topic trees that can be mentioned. More importantly, OpenMentions will strongly encourage distributed Open Mention nodes – especially those on narrow or niche topics.
The structure and governance of OpenMentions and follow related nodes will be by community consensus. Again this will largely involve the use of Webmention.
OpenMentions will have succeeded in its aims if and only if, should the site vanish forever, the principles of community cooperation and discovery can continue without it.
The round-robin has returned to my blog once more. I am still looking for bloggers who would like to take part in hosting this weekly event.
